Honfleur is one of the most idyllic communes in France. Located at the confluence of the English Channel and River Seine, it's a settlement with a very busy port. Lined with colorful houses, the harbor is truly the heart of the commune. Such is its charm that it has also served as a muse for artists to the likes of Claude Monet. Apart from the old port, Honfleur is home to beautiful churches of which the Saint Catherine's Catholic Church and the church of Saint-Etienne are must-visit. For those who wish to learn about the maritime and fishing history of the commune, a visit to the Salt barns comes most recommended.
