Known as Germany's southernmost city, Sonthofen offers the best of both worlds with its enthralling natural beauty and historical landmarks. It is nestled in Bavaria's enchanting alpine landscape, across from the Allgäu High Alps nature reserve, making natural attractions well within the reach of travelers. Sonthofen is also home to a dairy and cheese-production factory. Visitors will also delight in the pedestrianized stretch that spans its historic core, which is home to some historic churches and chapels, as well as restaurants, cafes and shops. Other attractions in town include the Ökokurpark spa garden, the Fluhenstein castle ruin dating back to 1361, and the Heimathaus Sonthofen, a local history museum.
