Located in the northwest of Germany, Aurich was home to a former Nazi concentration camp in 1944. The artist Gunter Demnig fixed brass plaques on the pavement in front of the former residences of Jews. These plaques were fixed to honor the Holocaust victims. Since the first stumbling stone in 2011, there have been numerous stones fixed in Germany and other nearby countries.
