Flanked by lush hilly landscapes, this Thuringian town is blessed with a picturesque cityscape and rich history. Eisenach's history can be traced back to the establishment of the Wartburg Castle in the 11th Century, although some accounts place it even further back to the 8th Century. A UNESCO heritage site, the magnificent castle has been beautifully preserved and offers great insight into the town's foundation. The city is well-known as the birthplace of the legendary composer Bach and also prominent among Lutherans, as Martin Luther spent three of his formative years in the town receiving education. Visitors can learn more about these personalities in the 15th-century Bachhaus and Lutherhaus, respectively. Automobile Welt, on the other hand, showcases the town's importance in the field of automobile manufacturing, which has been a prominent industry since at least the early 20th century.
