Steamer Lane is a popular surfing destination within the Lighthouse Field State Beach. This interesting spot is famous for its rocky cliffs, gorgeous wave swells and a fine vantage to watch experienced surfers in action. Its unusual name was established around the 1930s, when a university student and his friend used steamships to generate waves for surfing. The Santa Cruz Surfing Museum is also located nearby.
