While "progress" may have forgotten about this town, it seems to suit the folks here just fine. In the 1800s, the railway was built just a few miles from the town center. In the 1900s, the new highway bypassed this stunning legacy to Australia's colonial past. Despite the odds, the numerous sandstone and brick homes are a testament to the affluence enjoyed in this sleepy town. With an enviable location in the Southern Highlands, Berrima is a great day-trip for history buffs or those prone to nostalgia.
