Kammerzell House

La Maison Kammerzell is one of the best known buildings in Strasbourg, located opposite the Cathedral's main entrance. The residence dates back to 1467 and was bought by a merchant in the 16th century. Restored at the end of the 19th and into the 20th Century, the building is a rare and fine example of the architecture on residential houses of the time. The half-timbered structure, with intricate wood carvings and hues of red stands out from rest of the buildings in the square. Beautiful frescoes by the renowned painter Leo Schnug adorn the mansion's interiors. Today, the mansion has been transformed into a hotel and fine dining restaurant serving up sumptuous French cuisine.
