Named in memory of Lord John Russell, the Russell Square is known throughout the city as a important congregation landmark. It was a regular meeting place for the Italian community of Little Italy. Till the mid 19th century, the square was modeled on the lines of the famous squares in London. After its renovation, the square now has more than thirty sculptures designed by local artists. It is flocked by localites and tourists on a regular basis due to these reasons. The Russell Square is also known for the Annual Pride Parade that takes place here.
