The multifunctional Palaonda was built to host the 1994 World Ice Hockey Championships. It has a cubic capacity of 152,615 square meters (almost 38 acres), a maximum height of 18.4 meters (60.4 feet), and can seat up to 7,220 people in the stands. The ice skating rink (used for ice hockey and public/artistic skating) can also be used for other sporting events, shows, trade fairs, and conventions. When the rink is covered with special panels the structure is transformed into a perfect environment for concerts and shows, guaranteeing up to 8,000 spectator seats. In the past, stars such as Sting, Zucchero, Ligabue, Litfiba, and Vasco Rossi have performed here.
