In front of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, a square hosts a row of columns on either side, originally from a monumental building dating back to the 2nd century B.C., subsequently repositioned. Before 1935, the space between the church and columns was fully occupied by old houses, closely adjacent to the church's façade. Despite intentions to preserve this historic urban fabric, renovations resulted in the demolition of the old houses, leaving the monument isolated. Standing proudly in front of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, these architectural remnants offer a glimpse into the city's Roman past.
