Spanning 1,954 feet (596 meters), Oceanside Municipal Pier is one of the most notable piers in the western United States. The pier was first built in the 19th Century and then restored in 1987. It now houses a restaurant and snack bar as well as a bait and tackle shop. Surfers can hit the waves, while anglers can cast a line in the water, hoping for a good catch. For those who do not wish to walk the distance of the pier, a tram is available for the journey.
