The concept for this museum came from a top Polish film director, Andrzej Wajda. The building was designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki and opened to the public in 1994. It hosts not only a comprehensive collection of ancient and modern Japanese art but also a library, a tea house and a Japanese shop. There are additional seasonal exhibitions and chamber music concerts throughout the year. During the day you can take part in an interesting workshop and learn origami, calligraphy or tea-making techniques.
