Hampden Park, Glasgow, G42 9BA
Hampden Park is Scotland's national stadium and home of the Scottish national soccer team. This is one oldest soccer stadiums in the country and is a temple for Scottish soccer fans. In 1937, over 149,000 people gathered at this stadium to watch Scotland entertain England in an international match making it one of the most attended matches in UK's history. Hampden Park underwent a GBP63 million redevelopment plan in 1999 which was aimed at making this one of Europe's premier sporting stadiums with a capacity to host approximately 52,000. 34,000 new seats replaced the old terracing, a new cantilever roof was erected and hospitality suites were built. This state-of-the-art stadium was appointed to host eight football matches during the 2012 Olympics.
