Built in 1863 as a National Theater, the opera was called by the locals The White House at that time. In 1882 the building was heavily damaged by the fire and rebuilt after that. It has been the National Opera House since the early 1900s and has hosted many talented opera singers and ballet dancers famous both in post-Soviet areas and in many other countries of the world.
