The beautiful Callaway Gardens was established in 1952 with the intention to protect the endangered flower shrub and azalea. Today this 13,000 acre (5,260 hectares) space is Georgia's prime tourist attraction drawing thousands of visitors annually. Gardens and flowers aside, the area is replete with picturesque nature trails, a sand beach, snack bars, a chapel, golf courses, and a butterfly center. Another endearing sight is that of pet owners on their morning jogs with dogs in tow! One day may not suffice in these glorious gardens, so should you choose to extend your visit, accommodation facilities are also available for the entire family.
