This beautifully restored pre-WWII theater, located in historic downtown Lockport, is a showplace for the community. Originally built in 1925 by Charles Dickinson, the proscenium arch style theater was once part of the Schine chain of theaters. When it first opened, one of the performers that graced its stage was John Philip Sousa and his band. The Palace, which is a replica of the Paramount Theater in New York City, was purchased by a not-for-profit organization in 2003 and restored. The interior décor mixes Art Deco and Italian Renaissance style with original murals on the ceiling. The theater now features first-run movies, as well as live performances. – Christine A. Smyczynski
