TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Built in the 17th Century, St Luke's Church stood proudly for over a 100 glorious years in the heart of Liverpool until it was bombed in 1941 during World War II. While the city was ravaged in flames, the church too was partially destroyed, however the facade and walls still remain as testament to the destruction. A conscious decision not to restore it to its former glory has resulted in St Luke's being one of Liverpool's most beloved and iconic landmark. An occasional ivy creeper and wild plants between the Gothic walls, make for a heart wrenching yet beautiful sight. Nowadays music concerts are held here occasionally.
