Best known as the unofficial capital of the Champagne region in France's Grand Est, Reims is a striking city replete with grand architecture, artworks tracing back centuries, museums filled with medieval artifacts and exceptional scenery. The city was founded in 80 BCE, and by the 1100s it was widely recognized as a cultural hub, particularly given its encouragement of intellectual pursuits. Top attractions include the 13th-century, Gothic-style Reims Cathedral and the 17th-century Palace of Tau UNESCO World Heritage Site.
