Dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries, Château de l'Emperi is one of the area's most prominent landmark, and stands as the biggest castle in Provence. The residence of the Arles' Bishops during the reign of the Holy Roman Empire, this castle is noted for its brilliant architecture and artwork within. The castle is now the museum of military history and also doubles as an entertainment venue. The castle's court today hosts musicians from all over the world during the annual classical music festival held here.
