The Omniversum began life with a mission to educate the public on topics of culture, science and nature. It was once a full service planetarium, but was damaged in a fire in the 1980s and has since been turned into South Holland's premiere IMAX theater. Its content, like much IMAX fare centers on documentaries in keeping with the Omniversum's mission statement, but also offers more popular entertainments and even the occasional Hollywood blockbusters. The Omniversum is affiliated with the Museon next door, and sometimes shows special exhibitions and films resulting from scientific research. Call ahead to know more.
