Situated right at the point where the great river Danube meets the river Regen, this city has been of strategic importance to the people of Germany for centuries. Today, the city tries to strike a balance between the glory and destruction of its past and the flurry of advancement of its present and future. Architecturally, it is truly a wonderful place to visit. There are still remnants of Roman architecture in places like the fortress Porta Praetoria, as well as German Gothic architectural structures like the Dom Cathedral.
