The opulent, neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Hamburg was built between 1904 to 1908, thanks to donations by the prominent Laeisz merchant family. On the first floor of the foyer, you can admire a statue of famed music composer and genius, Johannes Brahms, who was born in Hamburg and has a red granite cube depicting his rise to fame. The Laeiszhalle is the permanent home to the NDR Symphony Orchestra and the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. Other orchestras, choirs, soloists and conductors visit on a regular basis, so there is always something going on. If you are a classic music fan, be sure to attend one of the first-rate performances held here.
