Sylt

Sylt Island is one of the North Frisian Islands and is considered to be the island located farthest north in Germany. The island draws large crowds thanks to its gorgeous sandy beaches that stretch along the island's uniquely shaped coastline. Thanks to its stark landscape, trees never had an easy time growing on the island, and were only introduced to the area in the 19th Century. Despite its rugged terrain, many rare plants and animals call the island home, including the natterjack toad, grey seals, and 600 species of butterflies. Visitors to the island can wander its extensive beaches, explore the heath on nature trails, or try and get some luck with celebrity spotting, as several celebrities own opulent houses on the island.
