An enviable location between Lake Traunsee and towering mountains, the town of Gmunden is a popular summer resort town. It is especially known for its variety of curative natural baths. There is a lot to do even in winter when the mountain trails are covered with snow, drawing hordes of ski enthusiasts. One can take a panoramic cable car ride or just walk through the Old Town which still preserves elements of its past. Some of the notable landmarks in the city include Schloss Ort and the Town Hall.
