A perfect example of late Renaissance architecture, the Schloss Höchstädt is one of the most significant historic buildings in the town. Built in the 16th Century, the castle was the residence of Frau Anna von Jülich-Kleve-Berg, the widow of Philipp Ludwigs. The castle rooms have stuccoes and murals from the 17th Century. The castle served as a prison cell and court as well. Today, the castle is open to public and hosts a slew of local events. Private parties, weddings, exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events are often held here.
