Spread across a sprawling 278 acre, next to the Renton Municipal Airport, the Boeing Plant at Renton is a major Boeing jets manufacturing unit in the country that accounts for more than 40% of jetliners in the world. The history of the unit dates back to the 2nd World War where the site was reclaimed by lowering the level of the Washington lake to build an experimental flying boat for the Navy called the XPPB-1 Sea Ranger. Today, the unit is renowned for producing the Boeing jet 707, 727 and 737 series of commercial jet planes and also comprises of an aircraft museum that presents the historic journey of Boeing airplanes.
