Roman-Catholic churches are not an uncommon sight in Italy but a 14th-century church which comes with decades of history and stories is definitely a rare sight in the small town of Orvieto. The Duomo di Orvieto, constructed by Pope Urban IV, is one of the most visit sites in this small town. The cathedral is known for its exquisite mosaics, frescoed chapels and also its designs that range from the 14th to the 20th Century. The church represents the Gothic style of architecture. There are regular services conducted here and if you are into classical music, then the opera building is located right next to the cathedral.
