The Arctic Cathedral or as the locals call it Ishavskatedralen is a contemporary masterpiece that effortlessly catches the eye. The parish church built in the village of Tromsdalen, is one of its most recognizable structures. This one-of-a-kind concrete wonder is the brainchild of highly-rated Norwegian architect Jan Inge Hovig and was completed in the year 1965. The dramatic entrance of the church is marked by a giant cross over a glass wall on the western side. Highlight of the church's interiors include a beautiful glass mosaic by renowned Norwegian artist Victore Sparre and the stunning pipe organ, installed in 2005 . The church's unique triangular shape has made it a popular venue for hosting concerts.
