TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Adjacent to the military hospital lies the Church of Saint-Étienne in Lille. It is an ancient college chapel, rebuilt by Gombert and Delesalle in Classical style after a fire. In 1796 it became a parish and adopted the name of an ancient Lille church, situated in the past in rue des débris. The interior consists of a vast nave, two aisles that end in a semicircular chancel. The decoration and furnishings date from the 18th Century. A particular note should be made of the figures in low relief on the pulpit, work of the sculptor François Rude.
