Located in Cheverny, this magnificent white and blue castle originally belonged to the Hurault family. Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful buildings in the region, it is a very good example of the classic architectural style that existed during those times. What makes this unique is that unlike other buildings of the time, it does not feature Renaissance style architecture. Work on the building was done by the renowned mason Jacques Bougier. Visitors get a chance to explore the regal interiors of the building which include several paintings as well as the rooms used by the Kings. Lovers of the comic book Tintin are in for a surprise. The castle itself was illustrated as Marlinspike Hall by the creator Herge in many of the stories. Because of this, a permanent exhibition called the Secrets of the Marlinspike Hall is conducted by the Cheverny estate and the Hergé Foundation. This chateau is a must-visit when in the region.
