Formerly known as Brunerstown after being discovered by Abraham Bruner, the city was incorporated and named after Thomas Jefferson in 1797. One of the most popular tourist attractions is the Bluegrass Research & Industrial Park which sprawls across 600 acres. Well-equipped for tourism, the city is dotted with accommodation options and restaurants. One of the biggest events that draws close to 200,000 visitors annually is the Gaslight Festival that takes place over 9 days each September.
