Capital of the Osage Nation, Pawhuska was named in honor of the valiant Osage chief, Pawhuska. This is one of the few towns left where nearly a quarter of the population is still Native American. The downtown area has 82 heritage listed buildings which have been wonderfully preserved, and are profoundly reminiscent of the native culture. The townsfolk are known for their hospitality and kindness, always making time to chat up curious visitors.
