Built for the London 2012 Handball and Fencing discipline of Modern Pentathlon Olympic games and the Goalball Paralympic Games, the Copper Box has an extraordinary appearance with more than 3,000 square meters (32,291 square feet) of copper cladding on the exterior. A major portion of the copper used was recycled, and this look gives a natural, wonderful coloring to the arena. The Copper Box has a back-of-house space of 13,700 square meters (147,465 square feet) and warm up courts.
