Sacred Heart Church

In the 18th century, under the influence of Enlightenment, attitudes slowly changed and the small Catholic congregation was allowed a house of prayer. But it was not before 1888 that the cornerstone for a real Catholic church was finally laid at Parade square, in the shadow of the Lutheran cathedral. In 1891, the Sacred Heart Church was finished, a brick building in a neo-Gothic style that goes quite well with the Churches of the Old Town. The plain inside is even closer to the Spartan Gothic beauty of its medieval counterparts.
