Officially the Bailiwick of Jersey, Jersey is a possession of the Crown in the right of Jersey. It is the largest of the Channel Islands and is a self-governing parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy with its own financial, legal and judicial systems and the power of self-determination. It shares a special relationship with the European Union for the purposes of free trade but is not fully a part of it. Administratively Jersey is divided into 12 parishes named after Christian saints to whom their ancient parish churches were dedicated. Jersey is known for its traditional folk music and cinema. Seafood is a popular part of the cuisine. Jersey is also known for its rich milk and Royal potatoes. With a temperate climate, Jersey attracts thousands of tourists every year.
