Kongsberg is a municipality located close to the city of Oslo. Founded in 1624, this area was known for its silver mines and currently, it is home to Mint of Norway, the coin minting factory of the country. Apart from that, Kongsberg is popular on account of the annual cultural events that are held here; like the Kongsberg Jazz Festival that has been held here since 1964. The municipality has also produced popular Winter-Olympics champions like Petter Hugsted and Jacob Tullin Thams. For detailed information about its history and tourist attractions, check the website.
