ENTERTAINMENT VENUES, TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING
The Church of St. John the Evangelist Church is a thriving house of worship in Oxford. Found on Iffley Road, its construction dates back to the year 1894 while the imposing tower was built in the year 1902. This Grade I listed structure is renowned for the arresting windows designed by Kempe, particularly the spectacular one to its east, portraying Jesus' martyrdom. The building remains a fine example of Decorated Gothic architectural style and enjoys a Grade I listing. It also serves as a lively venue for a host of concerts and other cultural and private events. Poetry recitals, speeches and plays are regularly held at the church premises. The garden makes for an idyllic spot for summer programs and exhibitions.
