Standing on a craggy headland on the northern coast of Randaberg, Tungenes Fyr has been instrumental in helping sailors to safety since 1828. One of the primary reasons for its construction at this location was the booming fishing industry of the time. Serving for a glorious 156 years, the lighthouse was eventually decommissioned in favor of an advanced lighthouse at a nearby location. Today, the lighthouse and it's outlying buildings are protected historical monuments, hosting a variety of cultural events and programs including tours of the lighthouse.
