North Bay Memorial Gardens situated in the heart of the city is an ice-hockey arena that is home to the North Bay Battalion playing in the Ontario Hockey League and to the Nipissing Lakers men's team of Ontario University Athletics. This arena was constructed in 1955 and went major renovation in 2013 which helped the arena get back to its former glory. Apart from a world-class playing surface and comfortable seating, North Bay Memorial Gardens also features 10 open-air lounges overlooking the ice-surface, two lounger and five dressing rooms making it one of the best ice-hockey arenas in the state.
