Kirche St. Kosmas und Damian is a popular attraction among tourists. It was built in 1852- 1854 by renowned German architect Alexander Josef Niehaus. The beautiful neo-classical facade features several fascinating elements that are worth a look. During World War II, the West Tower of the church was completely destroyed. Restored to its former glory in 1954, the church has ever since been serving as an important religious center for the locals of Barßel. Today, it is considered to be a protected monument of the city.
