In existence since the 14th Century, Gut Basthorst is a landmark steeped in history. Initially belonging to the Schacken family, the manor and farm was a crucial location during the famous Thirty Year War. It then went into the ownership of a Dutch family and was finally converted into a hotel and event space in later 1990s. Currently, the lush grounds surrounding the manor also hosts Christmas and Autumn Markets. With red-shingled roof and matching walls, the property is a sight to behold. There are also several farm houses around the area where agriculture still takes place. With more than 600 years of history under its belt, Gut Basthorst is a must visit for its heritage as well as its luxury and opulence.
