Basilica Sant'Apollinare Nuovo is a church built by Ostrogoth king Theodoric the Great in the 6th century. The Early Christian and Byzantine influences in the church are quite apparent, and the church has promptly gained itself a place in the UNESCO World Heritage List due to its fusion of western and eastern architecture. The inside of the church is just as stunning, with intricate mosaic work lining the walls.
