Batholomäuskirche Markgröningen

Batholomäuskirche Markgröningen was built in different phases and spanned two centuries. This is very evident in its two very distinct steeples. The north tower was erected as a watchtower and the south one is a typical bell tower with five bells. This Gothic church was built on the ruins of a Romanesque basilica and was sanctioned by the counts of Wuerttemberg. Originally dedicated to St Bartholomew, it became a Protestant church after the Reformation. Some of the interesting facets of the church are the murals, Fürstenkapitell, side chapel, huge baptismal font, choir and epitaphs.
