Constructed in 1906, Georgetown PowerPlant Museum is owned and managed by the Seattle City Lights. It is one of the largest power plants in the country and one of the first augmented concrete structures in the area. It used to operate for the Seattle Electrical Corporation and has the technology to produce low-cost electricity. The museum also has on display one of the first steam turbines in the area and was registered as a National Historic Landmark in 1984. The museum displays how electricity is produced and the evolution of technology over the years. The museum is open on the second Saturday of every month from 10a to 2p and guided tours are available on request, the first at 11a and the second at 1p.
