Bidwell House Museum

Built in the 1750 by Reverend Adonijah Bidwell, the first minister of the community, the Bidwell House Museum is located on the Art School Road. Drawing inspiration from Greek Revival and Classic Colonial styles of architecture, the house was once the very center of the township. In 1960 two fashion designers, came upon the ownership of the mansion, after which they would spend the next 25 years restoring the house with most of the original artwork and furniture owned by Adonijah Bidwell until 1982 when it would be enlisted in the US National Register of Historic Places. The property now serves as a museum highlighting the local history of Monterey which is open from Thursdays through Mondays between 11a and 4p.
