Amherstburg is a small town in the Essex County located besides the Detroit River. It was established in 1878 when it acquired the town status. The town is home to various historically significant attractions like Fort Malden National Historic Site, Park House Museum, North American Black Historical Museum among others. The town is an active participant on the cultural front as it hosts festivals like Woofa-Roo Pet Fest, Shores of Erie Wine Festival, Festival of Hawks throughout the year.
