Rotsee is a freshwater lake located on the northern frontiers of Lucerne with a maximum length of 2.5 kilometers (1.55 miles) and width of 0.3 kilometers (0.20 miles). Its crystal clear waters do not possess any form of currents, making it the ideal location to host a variety of watersports events. It is mostly known as a rowing venue, and has hosted the inaugural World Rowing Championships in 1962 as well as the World Cup. It is also a popular tourist destination attracting large crowds who come here to spend some quality time amidst nature overlooking the nearby hills.
