Nestled at the foothills of Mount Pilatus, Kriens is every bit the picture of idyll that one hopes to see when visiting Switzerland. A short bus ride from Lucerne whisks you to this picturesque town, from where you can then commence your journey to Pilatus' lofty peaks via cable car. Nearly half of Kriens' area is forested, and its surrounds are dotted with quaint hamlets, some of which are even settled on the neighboring slopes. Despite its proximity to a well-known city like Lucerne, Kriens manages to hold its own with its alpine charm.
