Founded in 1914, the Zentralbibliothek Zurich is an important and integral part of the city and University of Zurich. This library is housed with a wide range of books, manuscripts, maps and microfiches. It is also equipped with rare books and archives from the history. There are also events and exhibitions conducted for educational and instructional purposes. Occasionally, the reading room is available on Sundays.
