Set in a fascinating location in the center of Lakeland, Windermere Jetty Museum contains an exciting assemblage of historic motorboats, steamboats and more. The extensive collection includes boats from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. Yacht Margaret built in 1780 is the oldest boat in the museum’s collection. You can also find the TSSY Esperance built in 1869 beautifully restored at this place. It was the prototype for the houseboat owned by Captain Flint in Swallows and Amazons, penned by Arthur Ransome. Visit the museum to know more about heritage boats and the interesting sailing history of the region.
